The lowly camote slowly makes a stand. Considered a poor man’s diet at par with the native corn in the days of wars and depressions, it is now rising above to transform into something more acceptable and lucrative. Camote has come a long, long way and has got chapters of history tucked under its name. A starchy tuber that starts as a root and soon enlarges to an edible proportion, it is a good source of carbohydrate, fiber, beta carotene, vitamins, protein, iron and calcium. Even the leaves are edible and in most parts of the Philippines are eaten. The livestocks also benefit from raw, chopped leaves. Pigs and rabbits tend to like the leaves very much.

Baguio City is one place in the Philippines constantly visited by local and foreign tourists. As small as the area may be, this tiny city has much comfort to offer. It may not have the beaches with glorious sands and shells, it may not have the usual stretch of overwhelming nightspots and tall skyscrapers or gargantuan malls but it does have its shares of differently inclined entertainment and places worthy to look into. Aside from the usual lures of walks around Camp John Hay and the Philippine Military Academy and those other parks and hubs, Baguio City is known for its small nooks of artist-filled folk singing pubs. Though this places may not be mega full of rowdy, party animals, they are remembered for the memories of drifting melancholic voices piercing the slow paced moment of the nights. Where people sit in homey comfort, the cozy old wooden furnitures exuding auras of “been there, heard that, done this, saw much” experiences.
SUPREME COURT RULES WITH FINALITY : Affirms Church’s right over Sabangan land
The Supreme Court has ruled with finality on the case involving the land of the Episcopal Church in Lengey, Sabangan, Mountain Province. In a resolution dated February 24, 2010, the Court denied the motion for reconsideration filed by the Solicitor-General seeking the reversal of the said Court’s decision last December 15, 2009, which affirmed that the Church is the lawful possessor of the land on which St. Peter’s Episcopal Church once stood and that the government’s district engineer for the province and private contractor illegally intruded into the property in 2005 when they forcibly entered the same, demolished the church building and constructed a gymnasium.

The search for the perfect beverage often starts with man’s quest for the perfect amenities related with relaxation. Since the days when man first evolved to a perfect being and started toiling for food in between the sleeps and other simple activities, he has also started the dawn of “living in a complicated world”. Man soon learned to dress up in plant materials or animal hides and discovered that food seared in fire more often tasted much better than when it is raw. Tools were forged from crude stones and flint started fires. Shelters from caves to rudely put up sticks and straws made up a home. Throughout the eons, man invented things in quest of the better state of being of everything. All of these works to be rewarded with a few moments of rest and relaxation. In everyone’s term relaxation also twins with satisfaction.
