Kadchog Terraces are not as green as it used to be. with the ill effects of El Nino, most of the fields in Bontoc and the Moutain province (as does the fields of Luzon) are drying up and waiting for Divine intervention to happen. pray for the rains the farmers plead.

Baguio City. After the torrential rains late last year comes the drought. The phenomenon called El Nino is hitting the highlands severely, affecting agriculture in a most devastating capacity. The crops of corn, tobacco and rice are wilting and going to waste for lack of water. In the Cordillera alone it is estimated that about 8,000 hectares or more of farmlands are affected and the people are afraid it might even worsen if the rains will not come soon.

The Forests of Bayyo, Mt. Province. Even the beautiful afternoon panorama may someday be clouded by the threats of forest denudation caused by logging and burning. The proud forest covers of the Mt. province may someday flop too without prevention.

It is said that in the Mountain Province 80 percent of the land area is still forested. Though some parts have become central habitations for people, four fifths have managed to stay the way they were. The little portions that were made towns are almost always centralized, a few households straying further away to tend to their conquered lands.

Legends and myths are said to be borne out of the imaginations and beliefs of people. Whether they are true or not, at one time or another they served a purpose and somehow put certain mysteries to places and people. In a remote stony mountain cliff called Suy-uban in Bila, Bauko, their mythical creature was a serpent of some sort.

The falls puts in enough water during the dry season, and fills up this pool. Ideal diving and swimming and picniking area.
