Limestone Columns
Today was the mixed color of life and the passage of time. The fresh greens mingling with the browns and russets of old vegetation. The leaves rustle under us, fallen from trees along the not so beaten path to a suspension bridge seen on the other side of the mountain. Like worker ants parading to a food source we hiked in a line along the dirt path recently and specially cleared for us. The sun was high, creating an almost obscure shadow trampled under our feet, suggesting it was mid noon. Looking above I can now see a narrow concreted stairway leading to the bridge, and the backside of those that went ahead before me. Pushing the last few steps the guide stopped me awhile.

Rice Terraces of Bae, Ambabag, Kiangan Ifugao
The "Midterm Review and Assessment of the Ifugao Rice Terraces Ten Year Master Plan" is set to to start August 13-15, 2009 at the Banaue Hotel in Banaue, Ifugao. With the persistent challenge of Gov. Teodoro B. Baguilat Jr. to make the event materialize, the 3 day event is hopeful to meet all the activities set during the whole affair. The summit was basically conceived to discuss and play around the idea of conserving and preserving the Ifugao Rice Terraces as a World Heritage Site. For much of the past decades, the terraces has been in a state of neglect for reasons of poverty, outmigration, modernization and the likes. In a bid to preserve the "8th Wonder of the World", the Ifugao LGU, conservationists, environmentalist, NGo's and farmers organizations with the the pushing of the Governor come together to participate and contribute in the review and assessment of the ten year master plan once conceived to be able to provide the necessary data for the completion of the reports.

STATEMENT OF GRATITUDE TO AND PRAYERS FOR
HER EXCELLENCY FORMER PRESIDENT CORAZON C. AQUINO
The Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) through the local chief executives, directors of government line agencies, allied government institutions, civil society partners and other members of the Regional Development Council (RDC) in representation of the people of the Cordillera mourn the death of the former President of the Republic of the Philippines, Her Excellency Corazon C. In the same breath, we celebrate the life, passion and courage of the First Woman President who restored democracy in our country.
Here in CAR, we shall always look up to Her Excellency as the Mother of our Administrative Region. Though we look at CAR as the product of a people’s struggle, starting from our people’s love of independence; ardor for participatory democracy; and attachment to our ancestral land, we shall always remember that it was her presidency that gave national credence to the struggle of the Cordillera people for self-determination and self rule.

Baguio City. The Philippine Science High School - CAR opened formally in a very simple ceremony outside their temporary campus at BCNHS Annex, San Vicente last June 22, 2009. The school simultaneously opened with another PSHS campus in Pampanga with the hope of giving equal chances to extra talented primary school graduates all over the country. The Philippine Science High School is considered prestigious given the issue on education. Reason why aspiring students wanting to enter the schools have to undergo a rigid series of exams to qualify. With thousands flocking to exam rooms and applications piling up, only a few make it, considered the cream of the crop. The Cordillera Region is now privileged to have had the school put up in Baguio. This makes it possible for more to try to take the qualifying exams given the high qoutient of academically outstanding students here. Mr. Rommel Lengwa, PSHS-CAR Administrator explained that the students usually taken in are those with very high aptitudes in science and mathematics. Now on its pioneering stage, the school has taken in 66 students all over the Cordilleras to start the system rolling.
July 16, 1990 – A powerful earthquake devastated the City of Baguio destroying much of its buildings, infrastructures, and killing many people.
