Baguio City. The recent death of an overseas worker in Hongkong was finally cleared by the victim’s family as relayed to Sadanga, Mt. Province Mayor Gabino Ganggangan. It was earlier reported that Esther Masa-ad, a native of Sacasacan, Sadanga who was working as a domestic worker in Hongkong for an Australian employer fell down the 5th floor window of the latter’s residence. Speculations were plenty as to the real cause of her death, foul play included.
Her body was brought back to the Philippines by her sister Friday last week, July 9, 2010, taken for a few hours wake at the Resurrection Church along Magsaysay Avenue in Baguio City and finally brought home to rest in Sacasacan thereafter.
In an informal interview, Mayor Ganggangan relayed the gratitude of the Masa-ad family to all who helped and explained in part the turn out of the investigation in Hongkong. Although the full and final written results are not available yet, the family expressed their belief that their kin indeed died in a blameless accident. Esther Masa-ad, whose solo employer was out of Hongkong at the time was supposedly cleaning the window and fell down the 5th storey flight right in front of the building guard station in full view of the guard on duty at the time. Upon investigation, the police found the apartment door still locked from the inside as Masa-ad was alone at the time. The window materials may have deteriorated over time that even the full window frame fell with her, the hinges not as strong anymore to hold her weight. In any case the employer who is also her good friend defrayed all the expenses incurred and mourn with the family
